Boilermakers fabricate, assemble, install, and repair boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, and other heavy plate structures. They work with steel and other metals, performing layout, fitting, welding, and rigging operations.
Work Environment
Boilermakers work in power plants, refineries, chemical plants, and shipyards. The work involves confined spaces, heights, and exposure to heat and noise. Shutdown and turnaround work often requires extended hours and travel.
